If we can't have that (not that we can have anything – Nintendo is just going to stick to the ridiculous online system it has no matter what we say) then I would want a single code for each game. The problem some have with gamer tags is that the one you want may have been taking already. Well we have had to deal with that problem on MSN, VGChartz, etc and we have survived. And if you wanted something common like john then surely being stuck with something like john1991 is far better than a random 12 digit number. I would also like to have the option to add someone as a friend at the click of a button after a random match up with the person, provided he adds me of course by accepting my friend request. It annoys me when I have some great battles against someone on Mario Kart Wii and then once one of us drops out we never get to race each other again. |
That is exactly what shouldn't happen, and the reason there are friend codes in the first place. (online security)

Nothing wrong with a friend code... just with friend codes (plural) so singular Wii code keeps it secure so that people can't become "friends" with random people they know nothing about... but is not stupidly complicated like having codes for each online game. I agree about the gamertag thing too, at least the use of it as a code. It is easy enough to have a friend code that you swap.... then use your Mii online, so you can still use your own name/sudonym playing against people.
