I'm not sure what file formats the 360 supports. As far as I know the 360 only converts DVD movies from 480i to 480p but I have a older version without the HDMI so I don't know about the newer models. As for batteries I would go with rechargeable batteries but I don't know if its as cheap an option as it is here in the US where you can get the batteries and chargers for dirt cheap (less then $10 for both if you go with off brand and even name brand can be bought for less then $20).
