It's probable that there was a faulty shipment in the UK, because I know for a fact that a few bad Motion Pluses also appeared in Germany. A member called Slash made a thread about the game and said that the controls suck. But people in the UK also suck at gaming in general as we know from tuoyo who is apparently the worst GST player in the world and he isn't exactly good at Mario Kart Wii either.

So it's a combination of these two things and another important point could be that people in England almost religiously drink their tea at 5 p.m. every day. As you know, you can't pause in an online game, so some players are likely losing a lot of matches due to tea drinking.

It makes perfect sense.

Interesting theory but I don't know if I buy it.

According to your theory people in the United Kindom would have to be playing at least 33% of their games while drinking tea at 5 P.M.  It would make more sense if maybe they are all drinking tea much more.
