What was 'the reality behind' the PS1 and PS2 slims? Has anyone got an idea of how much they boosted sales? The PS2 didn't get a price cut when it got a slim version which was released in Nov 2004 (the PS2 had already been dropped to $149 in the Spring), but I don't have no idea how much it boosted sales, and the boost mite be hard to track anyway since it was launched in the middle of the Holiday season.

I've been trying to find out the info on sales when the PS2 go the slim version but it  has been really hard. Someone said in another thread a few days back that the PS2 Slim was released at a higher price than the first model. I can't confirm that however but I'm almost sure that the PS3 Slim will sit at the same price of the regular PS3 model to make some money off it. They might drop the price if the Slim version doesn't meet their projections

Yeah, this is what im leaning towards as well. If anything, a slim launch means a slight increase in price initially, not a huge drop. So I dont believe thers gonna be a slim $299 in 2009. Maybe slim $349 at best, or a normal priced $399 slim but a price drop a few months later (to make some money off of the early adopters that grab the slim on launch day, just like the pricing seems to be on the PSP Go).

Anyway, it's hard to predict what a sales boost will be from a slim PS3 when we dont have historical data available.
