For that to happen it has to sell like 8 million between September and December... last year it sold 4 million in that period. Are you really saying a $100 price cut and a slim model can double sales during a recession?

But yes, almost double last year I think is possible. U know, the PS3 had a very bad Holiday sales in both NA and Europe didnt it? (like flat sales compared to 07 or something)
If Sep-Dec truly was 4 mill in 2008 and 8 mill is needed for 13 mill in 2009 then no, that wont happen. Maybe 7 mill though?

7 million maybe... if GT5 comes this year. It's still a 75% improvement, which is a lot to ask for with just a price cut and a new model.
I mean, what's the last time we saw a console improve by 75% with just a price cut?

Sep-Dec 2008 PS3 sold 4.3 million. The X360 sold 6.5 mill.
A $299 Slim combo for PS3 should easily outsell the X360's Sep-Dec period from 2008. 7.5 mill is possible.
Jan-Aug will sell almost 5 million PS3s. 5+7.5=12.5 mill. But I admit that's if everything goes perfect, and it will be hard to reach.
EDIT: this is not with a GT5. IMO there's 0 chance GT5 will come out in 2009 in the Western markets.
