I thought that was dumb for any game of any genre. I can understand sequels that come across as rehashed, but acting as though bringing something new is mandatory is just BS. Plus if a game does bring something new, that's still not good enough for such reviewers if it's not the kind of new thing they wanted.

Precisely how I feel. Some random developer could make an exact rip of CoD4 and call it "Signal of Service: Current and Up-to-Date Battle". As long as it's fun, I don't care if it's "generic"

Also, Twilight Princess. It didn't do anything radical over Ocarina the way Majora and Wind Waker did, but I didn't freakin' mind, because I had fun.

And all the complaining if an RPG on the Wii seems generic. In case they all didn't notice, the Gamecube and N64 didn't even get that, so it shows the Wii is getting more support.
