Haven't the last batch of Sonic games been all over the place in terms of developers? I know SEGA develops and publishes them all, but there's different development teams for almost every major Sonic game that came out recently... you got Sonic '06, Sonic Unleashed, Sonic and the Secret Rings, Sonic and the Black Knight, Mario and Sonic at the Olympics, the Sonic Rush games, Sonic Riders... and they're all over the place in terms of quality.
I think if anything, SEGA should stop trying to turn Sonic into Mario and stop making so many damn Sonic games, and just concentrate on making ONE good game in the mold of Sonic Adventure or the classic 2-D Sonic games (they should take a cue from New Super Mario Bros. Wii)
