And since others seem to be intent on predicting, the PSP Go. Sony knows it's priced at a premium, and I don't expect to see that premium stay for long. It will see a price drop for the holidays, probably early October, to either $200 or $220 ($219.99), to spur additional sales. $200 will be done if sales are excellent or poor. Excellent sales will lead to a price drop on the 3000 model to $150, as they try to phase it out. Poor sales will mean they want to get what they can back on it. $220 will indicate mediocre sales. It'll cause a holiday boost, and let the difference between the PSP models cost less, to try to push adoption a bit more.

So you're predicting the PSP Go is going to have a price cut as soon as it's released?

...why was I thinking August release? Too many things going through my head; I'll revise that to April, then.

Heh, that's alright. Does that change your expectations for the success of it then? Seeing as it will still be priced at a premium during the holidays?

Well, I think that it will most likely meet what I would consider moderate sales, however, yeah, with the holiday season being done and gone, the $220 price is probably moot. I'm almost certain to a $200 price in April now. But if it really does do well, better than I expect (and fairly well even to Sony), I will hold to my prediction of a 3000 price drop toward discontinuance. Something in me says that won't happen, though.
