Agree. Unfortunately, that's how it work in almost any industry: gaming, music, movie, so on...

I disagree.  The point which Stof alluded to is that people seem to be confusing 'arty' with good art style and the two are not necessarily the same.  I will, as has been done before, refer to Metroid.  It is not arty but i would argue that the three Prime games boast some of the best graphic art in 3D gaming.  Interesting, diverse, cohesive and believable environments that are a feast for the eyes.

Trust me, I'm not confused. Metroid is not arty? Are you kidding me? Full hand draw textures, beautifull environments... it's awesome!

Art style in Metroid Prime Trilogy is better than 99% of titles around...
