I absolutely adored Lost Odyssey, but recently I picked Tales of Vesperia up (because it just got released over here, stupid Namco). Anyway, I've only played maybe 10 hours of Vesperia so far. But if you've got friends to play with, go with Vesperia. Playing co-op in the Tales-game is about as much fun as you could possibly have. It's just amazing. Even if you don't have any friends who want to play it with you, I'd still lean more towards Vesperia (and I really did love Lost Odyssey). That said, you can't really go wrong with either.
