Well, I'm a long-time Nintendo fan and I'm ELATED by Nintendo.
I dug the underrated Gamecube and still play it but the Wii is like WOW. Unlike my other systems that have slowly gathering under my 22 year old TV Tray (NES, SNES, N64, GC off to the side), I eventually put the Wii in my living room marvelling at that cool blue light that shows up whenever I get a message or an update or some interesting tidbit.
Sometimes I get a form of inbox-itis waiting for the blue light to come on. You know inbox-itis? When you keep hitting the send/receive button hoping for some interesting mail to come through. When you've been on the comp a little too long and it's time to get some fresh air inbox-itis. Hahahaha.
Sometimes I leave for work and the blue light comes on in my darkened living room as I shut off the lights and I figure that the blue light can ward off potential robbers who may think someone is home when they see that eerie blue glow.
I love to come home first thing in the morning from that brutal night shift and pop in Wii Sports to do my nearly daily Wii Fitness routine on the sports exercises. I do my special mix of tennis, baseball, bowling, golf, and boxing, watch in cringing fashion my Fitness Age hoping they don't pull that prank where the number's really low or really high before showing real number and then I practice my golf game or my tennis game. My tennis game still needs work. Golf is hit and miss for me usually miss.
Sometimes I get my kicks with Wii Play especially playing Find Mii. That game is one of my favorites. It suckers you in thinking it's all easy and then they put the screws to ya! I do my pool thang and end up messing up my score with horribly bad shots! Sometimes I get on that hard Pose Mii game (HARD!). I try my hand at Table Tennis or Laser Hockey and many times I perfect my Shooting Gallery game. I did get platinum on this one if I do say so myself *buffs shirt with breath & fingernails* Sometimes Fishing and Charge. And sometimes I see how far I can get on Tanks! Getting better but need more work.
At times I get into a fighting mood and gotta pop in my Dragonball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 playing the long long story mode. I love acting out the poses of the Kamehameha and Special Beam Cannon not to mention to Masenko from Gohan. My homeboy as always is Vegeta and I find myself copying Chris Sabat's voice as I get in character playing in the fight. "Dammit Kakarot! I said STAY DOWN!" Playing Kid Buu at the top of the Karin's Tower mode nearly broke my damn hands! I had a hard enough time getting by Frieza and Perfect Cell! Needless to say I lost.
Then sometimes I get into Wario Ware: Smooth Moves. This game excites my imagination on how the Wiimote will be utilized in the future. I laugh my ass off everytime I play this mess. And I love to do those silly poses they have you do with the Wiimote after you finish a set. I love the music to Penny Crygor's stage. Some neo-retro disco sound that gets me pumped to go. Games like these remind me exactly why I'm a Nintendo fan.
Though it's been awhile since I played it (since I beat it already) sometimes I'm getting the urge to replay Zelda: Twilight Princess. I spent 4 months playing that thing straight when I first got it (in between full-time job & responsibilities). 12 hour sessions back to back. Enjoyed every minute of that and riding Epona through the countryside: absolutely wonderful. Sometimes that's all I did was just ride for riding's sake. Slashing freaks on the ride-by.
I play Metroid Prime 3: Corruption pretty strong too. The lasso thing I simply love and I goof around pretending to swing it around in the air before doing the proper motion to make the lasso operate. Like a wild west cowboy swinging a lasso in the air, you know. The way you have to turn the keys manually: I love that shit! Makes it more immersive. I love this game so much it's got me going back to the old Metroid Primes to finally beat them on hard mode. First time was hard enough if you ask me! Hahahaha.
Oh and don't get me started on Trauma Center. I had to put it down as to not overplay the thing. That game can make me lose my whole day playing it if I'm not careful. I have to space out my sessions in order to get other things done. You just wanna see what happens next! Story, music, gameplay: top notch. Only could happen on Wii. This game would not be what it was without those controls. I almost feel like studying medicine after playing this!
I haven't played Godfather: Blackhand enough yet because I need to get me an SD card first. My cousins played it and I don't want to play from where they're at. I like to do things from start to finish on my own. But I did enjoy making the gangster I play. Who else would I call him but Mario? I even gave him the moustache and proper colors (in a more dark realistic way of course). Brown shoes and all. Sideburns & the whole works. When I play the second time I'll make him Luigi and then Wario and then Waluigi. After that who knows. The game from what I've played though is great! And to think I woulda overlooked this if not for the Wii. It was good no matter if it was on Wii or not. GTA clone aside it was a well-done clone. I watched the entire intro sequence. Long but fun to watch.
I still need to meet up with some folks for Wi-Fi play on Mario Strikers Charged. Region locking is about the only thing that sours me on Wii. So many friends I wanted to play from here but can't because of that feature. Nevertheless Luigi is my go-to guy on there (Donkey Kong is too but I played Luigi first) and his intro music gets me pumping as he falls from the sky. I need to play this more. So many games not enough time. It's always that way.
And when I feel like I do when I rush off to work on I-95 I get Excite Truck started. I hope they come out with an online sequel to this because it would be killer. The only thing holding this back is the multiplayer 'cause the core game is hot as hell! I love the way this thing plays! Reckless mindless crazy ass driving! Just like those freaks coming out of Florida when I'm on I-95. But here no one gets hurt but a few pixels of light.
I'm always checking my News Channel also looking for the coincidentally placed Nintendo-news tidbit from the AP. So clever Nintendo. So clever. I check my forecast channel for a heads up on the weather and always hit Everybody Votes Channel for the latest polls/market research (*oh you didn't think I knew?*). I watch YouTube from my Internet Channel and go to WiiCade.com a lot to play the flash games from there like Tactical Assault, Hangaroo, Dice Wars, that Bush word game and Squares 2 (that music alone makes it game of the year in flash games for me). Impressed with the findings from the WiiShop channel with the original SMB2 in original form and every now and then playing on the Photo channel (this will increase once I finally get my digital camera). I check out my Mii Parade often from the Mii channel and now know I have to start dumping a few Miis. I'm keeping those Charlie Brown ones though (which one of my Wii friends made those?). I sometimes play my Comic Zone from Genesis. Hard game but I've loved it since Sega Channel in 95! And I HAD to get Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV from SNES. This game is lengthy and time-consuming so I haven't properly sat down with it yet but I will. I used to rent this for weeks on end back in the mid 90s. I basically bought multiple times over as much as I rented it! Stupid!
I need to get me a Wavebird or two so I can play GC games on Wii without wires in my living room. But all in all I'm having a blast with the system. So much more I want to test out and play!
Super Paper Mario's on the list naturally as is Mario Party 8. I'm a Mario fanatic. At one time long ago I declared to have every Mario game made in my collection. Sort of fallen off on that with all the different systems but I'm doing my best to keep up as best I can. Gotta get Sonic & the Secret Rings and I might just pick up Rampage: Total Destruction for some mindless fun. Elebits is on the list for buyup and I wanna actually test out Madden 07 & SSX Blur for their control configurations. I'm not a football fan in gamelife or reallife but I gotta see how they work. Big Brain Academy will be great for the next time I go to my cousin's house for a get together and I wanna try out Cooking Mama. I love new ideas. Lots of games I wanna rent before purchase but there's a lot of titles I plan on snatching up sooner or later discounted.
And all this is not counting the upcoming stuff like Wii Fit, Brawl, Galaxy, BWii (need to beat BW1 first), Smackdown vs. Raw 2008, Victorious Boxers, Agatha Christie, and so so so much more.
And to think this only gets crazier once I finally get myself a DS! So behind on purchases there. Too many games, too little time, man!
But all in all I'm ELATED with Nintendo right now and this will only grow with time. They've done me right since Donkey Kong in 1981 to my still working Mario's Cement Factory I got XMas 1984 to the NES to SNES to N64 to GC through GBA/GBA Micro (which I play all the time at work). Haven't let me down yet.
