Maybe Microsoft should just buy the whole industry?
Anyway, I'm quite sure a lot of Xbox 360 users that will buy FFXIII would be interested in at least checking out FFXIV. But it shouldn't be through a pay cheque. Something about that doesn't feel right. Heck, Microsoft is laying off thousands, but even if they weren't publishers are already almost demanding it.
We're fortunate that Sony and Nintendo don't respond, or else we'd have bidding wars, and the smaller companies would go. However it creates an unbalanced situation that favors Microsoft. I'd say they'll continue doing it until... they can't? And who knows when that will be.
