Seems like you're confusing "games that interest me" with "games developers put a ton of effort in."  They may be related but they're not the same.

Good point. I suppose I have a hard time taking such games seriously, because of my own bias. I could say I go based on reviews, but it's not unreasonable that most reviewers would have similar bias.
