All Kyoto will do is push Carbon Emissions from western countries with (fairly) strict environmental policies, to developing nations like China and India where they will not only produce more carbon dioxide but will also produce acid rain, poison their soil, and destroy their local environment. The Asia-Pacific partnership is actually a far more important treaty with less ambitious goals but is far more likely to meet those goals ... I don't know whether Gore would be better or worse than Bush, but I don't think he was an high enough quality candidate to win and I'm possitive he was never going to be one of the US' better presidents. |
Sorry Squrriel, but the Asia-Pacific treaty is terrible. The same countries that claimed Global warming didn't exist now suddenly claim that they have the best plan to beat it. And what is that plan? It's voluntary...
I also really take issue with saying that Kyoto is wrong because it unfairly targets western countries. Of course it does. We're the worst countries per capita and we have the money to be able to make said changes with relative ease. As the rich mega polluting countries, maybe we should fix our own problems before telling countries with millions of poor and emerging economies to fix their own.
