
On thing I think which should be pointed out is that the number of users per system, user-demographic breakdown and the ratio of women using the system demonstrates that Nintendo's goal of making a product that every member of the household would use was amazingly successful. As a guess you could probably get the PS3 and XBox 360's demographic chart by removing 75% of all female gamers from Nintendo's chart and then removing gamers above a certain age (say 45).
People talk about videogames being the next form of mainstream entertainment alongside music, movies and television but they can never get there until every member of a household sees value in the product and uses it regularly ...
