Tales of Tempest, Tales of Legendia, Tales of the World, and Tales of Symphonia 2 are all comparable if not worse than Star Ocean 4.

Maybe Tempest and World. Definitely not ToS2. Don't know about Legendia.
How about comparing main series? Comparing spin offs to main series just shows how much better Tales is.

Well SO4 was reviewed better and you have admitted to not playing it so I'm really not sure what you are basing this assumption off of. If you are saying that reviews aren't to be trusted and you only base RPG quality off of your own experience then you must admit that you don't have any experience with SO4 and thus you can't make such a claim.

Well, regardless of the reviews, Star Ocean 4 was terrible.
And ToS 2 was just as bad.

I haven't played both so I'm afraid I can't confirm or deny that, I'm just pointing out that Soriku can't be definitive about it either.
Have you had the misfortune of playin both Outlaw?
Edit: also, to whoever said Cross Edge was underrated, I sincerely disagree.

I've played both, but I've only beaten Star Ocean.
I quit playing Tales because of other games. I'd say they are about of equal quality in that 5-6 range in my opinion.
I do think Cross Edge is better than the score you gave it though.
