I gotta disagree. Audiences are the reason Hollywood isn't whatever the hell you think it should be. If Bay's films didn't make money (save for The Island, which had really dick producers), Hollywood wouldn't care for his films. Same with Shia and Megan.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
