Activision trying to find out how fast they can kill Guitar Hero franchise?

Why so many GH games in 2009? How long can they continue milking the franchise before people start getting desensitized to the Guitar Hero name?

I think your missing the point. There are people who don't buy Guitar Hero because of the lack of music selection of their taste. I don't like Beastie Boys and find those songs horrible. I would not buy Metelica, but I would by David Bowie. The mistake your making is that the varients off the main line is for GH players, but it's not. The other varients are for GH players than don't play because they don't like the song list.

Milking a franchise is under the idea that your intend to sell the new product to the same core base. Since this is not the case and it's meant to expand the player base by offering more appealing tracks to others. It's not milking, but haven't I replied to you on this before? Even if it wasn't you the fact that this subject comes up often enough shows more a self centered mentality. Since a non self centered mentality would appreciate that Activision is trying to bring the joy of there GH games to a bigger audience.

I understand that, but the main series games have all kinds of music, and the band-specific games are of bands which are quite guitar-oriented. What's more, they're now doing more than one title in the main series this year (one of which is a mish-mash of previous games), that hardly seems like expanding the userbase.
