I'm not sure how you think the paintbrush in Okami worked, but it's via the IR pointer.
Wii Motion + would not have ANY EFFECT WHATSOEVER on how well that would control. At all. WM+ improves the motion sensing by adding another accelerometer, the infrared pointing is not affected by this in any way.
*Edit*: Also, Amaterasu is female. Link's... not.
