There are a couple of decent FPS adventure titles, namely Metroid Prime Hunters, Dementium: The Ward and Moon.
C.O.R.E., which is an FPS, comes out in like a week. I don't know if it's any good, so wait for reviews. Cop: The Recruit is going to be like a 3D GTA type of game, so the shooting mechanics may be to your liking.
If you are in the lookout for a more traditional 2D shoot 'em up though, the DS has the best on the market. Contra 4, Metal Slug 7, Nanostray 1 and 2, Little Red Riding Hood's Zombie BBQ, and Bangai-O Spirits.
