Mario Kart is a must-own. I'd recommend getting the Tiger Woods 10 Wii MotionPlus bundle, too (this is coming from a non-golfer who never thought he would buy and enjoy a golf game in his life). Resident Evil 4 and Boom Blox Bash Party are good choices, too.
There are lots of other recommendations I could make, but it kinda depends on your tastes. There are tons of great experiences to be had, it just depends on what you're looking for.
