It's right up there in the thread title, and has been talked about multiple times (including in this thread). He's going to post financial news, and help out with future financial sections of the site. Looking at his track record, he's perfect for the job.

Also, I don't get this mentality where moderating is somehow a "promotion". It's a responsibility, and often times a curse (very much so in this site, where moderators are under constant scrutiny and unabated criticism).

Exactly.  What does his system preference have to do with anything?  His job is to keep the forums clean and help out posting news.  If he ever bans someone unjustly Stof will deal with it.  End of story.
