I'm sorry, but there is no way a speaker of Romanian would mistake 'three' for 'fifty-six' in English or French. They might not understand what was being said at all -in which case, I don't think any tattoos would have been drawn at all- but there is no mistaking these two numbers.
I somehow doubt she asked for 56 stars; it seems a very odd number to explicitly specify. But there is no doubt in my mind that however she might have said it, she got exactly what she asked for, and it wasn't three small stars.
As for "ruining her life": not at all. Certainly she is going to have to adapt to the change it brings, but that is not ruination.
