I think reactions to it are ridiculous. Games are about having fun, not serious business. I don't see how other people getting into gaming is impacting you negatively.
And it might even let them make games harder again, because they don't have to keep difficulty down with casual gamers in mind. You should love that. But you keep complaining, is it because you love complaining?
