Aside from those two big announcements, they had nothing, really. I mean the stuff the had playable on the show floor was kind of weak compared to others. Scribblenauts aside, there weren't many Wii/DS games winning awards.

I had the complete opposite perspective ... How many XBox 360 or PS3 games that impressed people will be released in 2009 and weren't on display at E3 2008 or before?

To win E3 every year you just have to keep delaying games so that you can rehash the previous E3 announcements (of course with a new trailer or a new release date).

Bonus points if you convince people that 360 ports of PC games are actually 360 exclusives.
