You gotta understand, it's not a "6 days is OK, 1 week is ban" thing. Bumping a thread when the last post was 4 days ago just with "bump" is spamming. Bumping a thread that's 4 weeks old with a very intelligent post may not be spamming. It all depends on what was on that post

With the hot topics bar for people who are infrequent visitors we have seen threads tending to grow longer as people who visit the site less often still want to have their say. I wonder if the solution would be do have the 'glow' for a thread expire 7 days after the last post to prevent necromancy?
