That is what I am thinking. GT PSP is like the gateway drug. It gives people a taste of what Gran Turismo is all about. With a little intrest sparked the new fan goes out and learns a little more about the series, and if Sony is smart GT5 will be out very close to GT PSP's launch. If GT5 can boost the same amount of cars GT PSP has, plus add car damage, Nascar, WRC, and more then it should be the final push needed to move units.

Another thing that I really hope Sony does, is puts a ton of weight behind the Home space for GT5. This is a great chance to create a very close community within Home, all built around Gran Turismo. The market that this game is geared towards is already very community driven, so I think Home must be taken very seriously. They need to integrate the Home space into the game so well that it becomes part of the experiance itself. Perhapps making the Home space the onlinerr lobby would be one possible idea. I remember that Sony had parteners like Audi, BMW, and Ford early on in the life of Home, and I am just wondering if the GT launch will bring all of those spaces.

What I think would be very cool, is if Ford or one of the others allowed people to test drive their cars in Home via GT5. For example. You enter the Ford space, and they have a show room floor with all of their car models (new cars only for this purpose). You walk over to the Shelby Mustang and a test drive option appears. Thanks to a deal between Polyphony and the car manufactures you will be able to hop on one specific track, and take the car for a spin.

I know that that is a little repetitive since if you have GT5 you could test drive a bunch of cars on a 100 tracks, but what it does is create promotion for both the manufactures car, and the game itself. This is another thing that could possably help move more untis of GT that we have seen in previous iterations.

IF YOU SKIPPED EVERYTHING ELSE PLEASE READ THIS LAST BIT

I was in Japan last year for TGS, and I saw people playing Monste Hunter everywhere. On trains, in restraunts, in stores, and basically anywhere else you can go in the country. With GT I think Sony finally has the product that can make that happen in the US, and Europe. I think that people will be doing 4 player ad hoc races all over the world with random GT fans. I think car events will be the biggest place this happens, but it could easly spread. In a way I think that GT will become the Pokemon of the adult world. The best part is, it will never grow old either. They don't have to envent crazy new charicters, they just have to keep up with the car industry.

Who sees what I am getting at here?
