Well the Wii is based on an easy architecture. Even the TEVs are easy once you get used to them. The PS2's Emotion Engine wasn't even that hard once developers got used to it.
Yet I do admit that if developers hold out their AAA games, to get a better userbase for the PS3, then they should give some other games to help the userbase grow. The system can still do decent games without the SPEs.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
