GoWIII was complained about by G4 and others for being very much like GoWII, with just more enemies. That is why it dodn't make the list. However, Uncharted 2 is on the list for best graphics tech. I think you missed that one.
GoWIII is highly popular, but IGN didn't think it was the best. In fact, it got snubbed on a lot of lists. Did they change developers or something?

But how on earth could Alan Wake beat God of War 3 in action, cmon now. I mean, okay we saw alan wake, but comparing that to god of war, IN ACTION, alan wake isn't even in the competition in my eyes, idk though.

I see what you mean, but I think "action" was just a genre, rather than the actual quality of physical fighting in gameplay. SotC could be an "action" game by that potential.
