Every time I see a thread like this asking these kind of questions I like to open up troll.xls and input the current numbers:

So assuming tomorrow the gap starts shrinking here's what will happen:

If the PS3 starts outselling the XBox 360 by 25k/week, it will take much more than 5 years for it to pass the 360.

If the PS3 starts outselling the XBox 360 by 38k/week, it will take about 4 years for it to overtake the 360.

If the PS3 starts outselling the XBox 360 by 77k/week, it will take about 2 years for it to overtake the 360.

So yeah, momentum has slowed but it really doesn't matter.
