A lot of people thought the 360 would be ahead by 12 million at this point. Not gonna happen. If Sony really wants to cut into that gap they could do a pricecut right before Madden. Seeing at how the PS3 is selling just about equal with th360 currently, one has to wonder if they'll be compelled to drop the price at all.

Who? I don't recall it being a big thing with people if at all (certainly not big enough to be claimed "a lot"). Sounds like somebody is trying to make it sound like Sony's improving because (imaginary) people's expectations of the gap weren't met.

Also, a lot of people thought the gap would be 4 million or lower at this point. Remember PS3 domination begins in *insert random year gone by*

I think the PS3 will eventually catch up and surpass the 360. My only concern is when it'll happen, because at the current rate it's going, beating the 360 when this generation is a year from ending and when the 360 has made a very healthy profit won't mean much to Sony (to Fanboys it will).

Sony really needs a price drop. It's pointless to say "Oh look 360 is only beating it by 10k per week when the PS3's still hasn't had a price drop. Therefore Sony is not in trouble". The fact of the matter is, it still is beating it by 10k a week, which makes the gap bigger. This generation is moving further and further towards it's end. Sony has to price drop or launch GT5 if they want to reverse this, because even if they only end up outselling the 360 by 10k a week after the initial shock of those events, it's still reducing the gap.

Also, every day Sony stalls is another day a consumer is contemplating getting a 360 or Wii instead because they can't afford (or are unwilling to pay for) the PS3.
