Remember during the N64/PS1 days, where developers were encouraged to "Go 3D?" How Castlevania: Symphony of the Night was looked down upon by Sony because it used sprites and 2D graphics?

There are a few console features that manufacturers want you to pump and pimp out. Look how nuts people got when the PS3 version of Madden had a lower framerate than the 360 version. If you make a PS3 game, you need to pimp the Cell and Blu-ray. And they would rather spend the money tweaking and maximizing their Wii engine than making a half-baked PS3 engine that will get cries of "these graphics sucks I bet the Wii could do it!" And hurt sales due to bad press.

But sure, Capcom lied. They want to put their franchises on systems with larger userbases. Just like they lied about the Capcom 5. Capcom is after profit and they think it's on the Wii. So they're going there.

(Sorry for the shotgun post here.)

There is no such thing as a console war. This is the first step to game design.
