This holiday is going to be a big step toward the end of the format war. HD DVD has Paramount/Dreamworks on its back now and a player that is only $179 out for the holidays. Quality is near identical and HD DVD discs are less expensive with somewhat better menus. With Sony's PS3 woes and Blu-ray cost, storage capacity aside, looks like it could go either way.

i really wish people would just keep to themselves if they have no idea what theyre talking about. There is no point in argueing as its clear some people just arent in reality on this issue.

There is no $179 player, nor has one EVER BEEN MENTIONED, if youre talking the venturer which is up for presale on Target for $250, then perhaps you need to get your "facts" checked. http://www.target.com/Venturer-HD-DVD-Player-SHD7000/dp/B000W7O43U/sr=1-1/qid=1192041380/ref=sr_1_1/602-6862406-4258254?ie=UTF8&index=target&rh=k%3Aventurer&page=1

And HD DVD discs are NOT cheaper, because of the combos, it makes the MSRP $5 more than the standard BD versions.

thats the problem with this whoel format war crap, we get kids like Clandecyon who buy into the Sony hatred and brand loyalty too much that they just accept anything they see with tunnel vision and eat it hook line and sinker, and salepeople do the same thin...then we get poster liek him who spread the crap I have bolded, which isnt even true at all and it reverberates around to general message boards and then moron bloggers pick it up which then leads to more links of the misinformation.
