I think the reason for the Brawl delay has also something to do with Mario & Sonic at the Olympics... they can't release 2 Mario and Sonic games so close to eachother and not even taking SMG in account! By the way The Olympics was always announced as the first crossover ever. I think it's simply a marketing decision.
