two ways this kid is wrong (and I feel sorry for him that he is skipping his childhood, I try to elongate mine :)
1. Video Games like any form of entertainment may on the surface seem to be wastes of time (as anything can be, especially if over done) but they also can help a person relax (and in turn sane) and can teach people things.
2. To say that Video Games and the Video Game industry does not benefit humanity is ignorant. The development, production, distribution, selling, etc. of Video Games is multi-billion dollar worldwide industry that brings jobs and helps bolster the economies of several countries worldwide. It also contributes to international trade and has been instrumental in breaking down cultural barriers now and in the past. Think about it would you rather a factory make Wii's or tanks?
Currently dreaming of: DKC4 or Sonic the Hedgehog 4 (classic 2D platformers) for WiiWare, Smash Bros. for DSi, New Super Mario World for DSi, a Wii remake or true sequel of Final Fantasy Tactics.
