Guncon 2 help!

Okay, my friend lent me his guncon two and a couple lightgun games.

The guncon itself has a usb connection and a video connection. He also gave me a composite interconnect used to connect the guncon and the video input signal.

Whenever I connect the interconnect to the guncon's video connection, the video on screen messes up horribly. it flickers and the colors are completely messed up. Moving the guncon makes the video go crazy only display certain colors, if any at all. The "VIDEO 3" keeps popping up on my tv, so there's some kind of signal interrupt. I'm fairly sure I connected this right, but is there a diagram on the proper way to connect it? Maybe the guncon went bad.
