^That was M$ and Sony's PR dealing with the disruption that was about to take place.

Well, if it was Sony and Microsoft PR in May 2006, then that means the disruption that occurred was expected.

Which is even crazier; imagine seeing whats about to occur and being able to do nothing to stop it? Honestly either one of two things happen either the disruptor becomes the standard or becomes a compliment to the incumbent. TBH, M$ and Sony and maybe even the media, don't know this yet, but in hindsight, this E3 will be remembered as the begining of the end of the consoles as we knew them. They are playing right into Nintendo's hands. The E3 of 08 that everyone accused Nintendo as being lame was a preemptive response to what eventaully happened at this E3. M$ and Sony have validated Nintendo completely, and any attempt at swiming downstream will be met with a ruthless  Nintendo and one hell of a dog fight.

But at the same time as far as games go, it wasn't casual, social, or community type games that seemed to have the strongest prescence at this year's E3 but first person cinematic action adventure games.
