Of course it's for community and not for profit because bigger community means bigger userbase and bigger userbase means more potential customers. And naturally more potential customer means more (potential) profits. Although I doubt their true motivation is community, I don't have a very hard time believing this anyway. Community = profit if they do stuff right.
