After market means a product bought separately from the stock parts that come with your product (usually from a different company). Such as buying a 3rd party wireless sensor bar - that would be after market.
Very little public data seems to exist on the LED alterations in the sensor bar but I'm guessing that PAL launched with the upgraded sensor bar with 5 LED's per side.
