Maybe this Link is a punk kid on the tough streets of urban Hyrule, where he beats up street gangs with a baseball bat.

I don't mind them mixing up the gameplay. I mind them mixing up the mythos. I hate when a game jumps across to a completely different mythos (unless the original mythos sucked). It's one of Nintendo's biggest issues, they don't understand the value of mythos.

Yes they do.. Why do you think most Mario games, main series or otherwise, go for the save princess from doom premise?

Er, how is a premise related to a Mythos. The former is a plot device, the latter is the game universe.

Nintendo shake up their mythos' all the time. The mythos in Super Mario Galaxy is completely different from the mythos in Super Paper Mario is completely different from the Mythos in Super Mario World is completely...

Same goes for Zelda. That may be why I don't really get attached to Nintendo Mythos', but I do find it a particularly annoying cliché when a story/series gets thrown into the future in order to spice up their mythos.

It's the same with other media. When a series doesn't stay consistent with it's mythos, that's usually when I stop watching/reading. Comic books are terrible for this.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.
