The greatest surprise for me was definitely FF14. I don't have a lot of interest in it, but I'll be damned if anyone saw it coming.
Natal was also a great surprise, though we know something motiony was coming, the depth of it was surprising.
There were quite a few surprises, but FF14 definitely takes the cake here.
