Nintendo as far as I remember has never lost money in the video game market, but I could be mistaken. But if they ever did it was only for a quarter. Microsoft has been making money on the Xbox 360 the past year or so. Sony has been losing money ever since the PS3 came out. If they don't cut the price they will probably start recording a profit soon.

Correct.  A few years ago they lost a few million in one quarter due to the exchange rates.  They've never in their 100 years of business taken a quarterly loss on the operating income line of a balance sheet.

Yup, and I remember many people freaking out that "this is the end of Nintendo" and predicting either Microsoft buying Nintendo or Nintendo pulling a Sega. Ignoring the billions and billions that MS/Sony have lost.

It's interesting, Nintendo's basically the reverse of Sony + Microsoft (gaming division). Both of those are basically hardware companies that make their own games occasionally, while Nintendo's basically a software company that builds their own consoles. Nintendo's consoles have always been essentially vehical to allow Nintendo to build the games they want to.
