If he had truly been reading forum talk, then he should be announcing that from now on, Nintendo will release a new game in each of their franchises every year, on each console.
Also.... I really don't believe you did SMG first time without dieing, unless by dieing you mean losing all lives.... because I count a death as each time you lose all three life sections, or fall off or whatever.
Either way... SMG is DEFINATELY harder than Super Mario 64, because I played both for the first time pretty close to each other (SM64 in summer 07 and SMG on launch in Autumn)
