there fixed. the 955 is a bit pricier but its unlocked so you can OC it like a bitch!!! best CPU for under $300. Almost as good as the I7. But yeah save the money and get a good GPU. Much more important than the best CPU.

or you buy an insane CPU like the core i7 then just randomly upgrade the GPU every few years due to the fact you wont need a new processor for a long while.

as far as gaming goes the Phenom II 955 beats the Core I7 920. Not only does it have a faster clock speed but it can also over clock well. If hes going for a gaming PC and is budget constricted there is no reason to go the I7 especially when Phenom II can beat it in performance/dollar in gaming. Now if were talking multimedia applcations i will agree and say go the I7 route. Its up to him
