It's funny how directly under this article we see one from Malstrom with the title "Microsoft is responding to Sony, not Nintendo". Well if this technology isn't a response to Nintendo (they even made a remark against the Wii during it) then what was it?  Also in that article he states that he thinks Microsoft's avatars were aimed at Sony's Home rather than the Wii's Miis.  Ok imagine that we didn't already know that Rare was working on the avatars even before the Wii came out (Kotaku), does anyone honestly think they were directed at the hardcore audience on Sony's Home rather than the casual audience on the Wii?

its a challenge to the PlayStation Eye.

So they'll be challenging UMD next?

Didn't they already do that with HD-DVD? UMD was a failure as a movie format like HD-DVD.

And the PS Eye and EyeToys were never really failures so you can't say that this will fail either. Its a niche market like SRPGs.

I believe moderate success will happen like the PS Eye and EyeToy. As long as they receive minor support each year its all good.

And here I thought HD-DVD was a challenge to Blu-Ray.
