The reason it has sold so much is because it's more fun than playing a boxing game. Any Boxing game has the standard moves (jab, cross, hook, uppercut) and that's about it (for the most part). I think people have been waiting for a decent fighting game that depicts fights quite realistically (not that Tekken or Soul Caliber type fighting), that isn't boxing. I mean...in UFC you get to absolutely annihilate a player with devastating kicks and knees, and when they are down you get to pummel them some more.
