The Wii Fit/Wii Play/Mario Kart sales still dominate the charts, especially in the weeks without new releases. But total sales for Nintendo's breadwinners are on the long downward slide. What's next: the new big three which I predict will released all before the end of the year.
Wii Sports Resort - no brainer, with the add-on motion sensor & official follow-up to arguably the most successful game of all time it's a guarenteed 10M+ lifetime seller.
Wii Super Mario Brothers (or New Super Bros. 2) - at over 18M in NSMB sales, sidescrolling Mario still has proven unversal appeal. I think Nintendo will go this route because they fear a follow up on the DS will cause unneccesary cannibilization. Plus putting this title on the Wii may give them a decent HW boost in Japan. With head-to-head multiplayer, lots of minigames, & a fresh 2.5D prespective it could very easily outsell Galaxy.
Wii Fit plus - I'm not exactly sure where Nintendo is going with this. My guess is that it's a way for them to get the home exercise crowd to 1) buy new software 2) buy into motion plus. Assuming they're at least slightly successful getting old Wii Fit owners to upgrade & it takes over where Wii Fit left off with new adapters it should also be able to get to 10M lifetime sales.
BTW- Sorry Reggie, these new games won't restore HW sales. Only a price cut will do that.
