I don't really know, I haven't exactly looked into it... But let's try anyway. Maybe I'll consider it more later, probably not. These are lifetime figures.

  • inFamous: 1.2M to 1.7M - The game doesn't have too wide appeal, however it seems to be good and isn't exactly niche either.
  • God of War III: 2.2M to 3.2M - Hard to say; the series has been popular so far, however this is a new console (a very expensive one), and the game doesn't look as impressive as the previous games.
  • Gran Turismo 5: 7M to 11M - Again, a wide range. It's pretty hard to say how the series's appeal is at this point, though Prologue would indicate it isn't too bad. Anything over 10M is definitely very high-end.
  • Uncharted 2: 2.4M to 3.1M - Not a huge IP, but considered excellent anyway. Seems to improve over the first one in many ways. A well-known developer with excellent reputation, generally rather wide appeal.
  • Heavy Rain: 0.5M to 1.2M - Definitely not a huge hit; not mainstream enough. Currently I'd go for the lower end of the range I've given due to much internet hype.
  • Ratchet & Clank: 1.1M to 1.7M - A series well known for high quality, has somewhat wide appeal. Not huge.
  • MAG: 0.6M to 2M - I'm not even going to try to guess how the big market will react to this. Besides, online-focused games are harder to predict. Also depends a lot on marketing.

I'd really prefer to give some general guidelines than exact numbers. There's simply so many things to take into account, and most of them are hard to research (thus reducing accuracy despite general directions being known).

And you guys should stop discussing quality - it's appeal and quality, in that order, that matter (mostly). Anyway, shouldn't this be in the Sales section instead of the Sony section? You'll get more unrealistic predictions here, it's like asking if Halo 3 is any good on a Halo fan forum, or even some random MS forum.
