Your kidding yourself thinking that the NextBox will launch higher than $400. Sony showed what a mistake that was and MS will not repeat that mistake. Not to mention why would publishers port NextBox games to the PS3 and ignore the 360 when the 360 will continue to be sold and already will have sold more than the PS3.

It will be an expensive console because it will need to be able to play third-party ports of nextgen pc games as well as the 360 plays Bioshock and Fallout 3. Most western game developers are primarily pc developers that love to put their games on the most advanced tech and Microsoft has to come up with a system powerful enough to give western pc developers the proper incentive to put their games on the next microsoft console.
Because when Nextbox comes out with games like exclusive Gears 3 people won't have much reason to pick up a 360. Also, the next-gen multi-plat games if available on both 360 and 720 would cut into early adaption of the expensive at launch 720, thus placing it in a position at launch similar to the one the PS3 has been in so far this gen. When Microsoft decides to bring out their next console it is in their best interest to kill off the 360 as quickly as they killed off original xbox.

Again this MS will kill off the 360 when the NextBox comes out. Lets please understand the truth the reason MS stopped production of the original Xbox was because it cost more to produce than retail sales price. That isnt the case with the 360. You also believe that MS will stop 3rd party developers from creating software for the 360 because it will hurt NextBox sales. Thats nuts. MS wants to continue to make a profit on the 360 and 360 software well into the NextBox's lifetime.

And as a result pull off what we've seen so far from PS3 on their next supersystem? It will be the developers themselves that will pull off quite a bit of the third-party development from the 360 as I said earlier since many of them are western third-party pc developers that prefer to work on the most advanced tech. During the transition from original xbox to 360 was bethseda still planning Elder Scrolls games to appear on original xbox? What about Bioware, it seems like they sure were in a hurry to keep Mass Effect on original xbox, you didn't hear Epic decide that they wanted to put a version of Gears on the original xbox or THQ wanting to put Bioshock on original xbox either.
Look at the traditional way of playing advanced pc games. you buy a 1000+ dollar pc it can play the most advanced pc games for about a year, then by the end of the second year it can barely play any of the big new games coming to pcs, the third year you play whatever you can manage to squeeze out of it which usually isn't that much, and then at the end of that year, you have to buy another $1,000 pc. Microsoft's plans always tend to follow a similar model.

Bioware made an RPG on DS too, thats REALLY advanced I must say!

How did it sell in comparison to KOTOR, Jade Empire, or Mass Effect?
