I'd prefer clarity and visibility, which still seems to work with the second shot better. If I go for "as good as possible", that leaves room for accusations of fixing things.

I disagree. Making the games look as good as possible is what every gamer is doing on his or her TV. I'm always adjusting the brightness for certain games in order to not lose certain details.
